Art fact #2

Retrofuturism is a style of art that explores our relationship to the past. Art that falls under this category usually conveys a hopeful perspective of the future that’s full of whimsy and technological optimism. Ever seen that time capsule episode of Zoey 101? That’s Retrofuturism!

Art Fact #3

Characterized by its POV filming style and "raw" acting, found footage is a film subgenre that rose to prominence in the early 2000's following the release of "The Blair Witch Project" in 1999. The found footage genre is presented as if it were discovered film or video recordings. Its cinematography is often done by the actors themselves as they perform, with the genre relying heavily on naturalistic and improvisational acting techniques. Spooky!

The poppy is representative of those which grow in the fields of Flanders, site of some of WW1’s most atrocious battles. After the war, the blooming red flowers became symbolic of the blood spilled. Some of the biggest artists we know today, like Van Gogh and Claude Monet, have painted poppies of their own.
